Dr. Kaplan approaches work with his clients by helping them identify the problem areas they want to address and developing goals and strategies to cope with these difficulties. In order to achieve this endeavor, Dr. Kaplan draws from a number of therapeutic modalities including: cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, existential and insight oriented psychotherapy. He is trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in order to help clients recover from traumatic experiences (e.g. working with veterans on PTSD). Dr. Kaplan also offers assessment screening for infertility patients. Over many years of practice, Dr. Kaplan has developed a deep respect for his clients and the courage it takes them to make difficult, but rewarding, changes in their lives. Whether through individual, couples or group counseling, Dr. Kaplan believes that one of the important outcomes of psychotherapy and personal growth is learning the skills of self-expression and healthy communication in order to sustain honest and meaningful relationships. The overriding goal in working with Dr. Kaplan is enhancing the quality of one’s life. |
